Salamon has worked as a clinician and researcher whose primary interests have been personality relationships and life-satisfaction. As a result, this book focuses mainly on the following areas; an understanding of personality traits, attributes and disorders and how they impact relationships, a test to measure personality compatibility, and how to strengthen a relationship once there is compatibility.

Michael J. Salamon, (Ph.D.), is the founder and director of the Adult Developmental Center, a multilevel practice mental health center in Hewlett, New York. He is the author of the Life Satisfaction Scale and the Addiction and Dependency Scale. Dr. Salamon is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, on the governing board of Psychologists in Long Term Care and on the editorial board of several professional journals, and is currently Co-Chair of the Professional Advisory Board of P’TACH.
