Book Description
It is April 2016 and Elizabeth and Rafael Rossi are celebrating the 18th birthday of their only son Rory. During the party Elizabeth drunkenly announces her intention to vote Leave in the forthcoming EU Referendum. Her announcement causes uproar, both within her family and in the village and it is not long before the normally happy household is divided. Rafael makes every effort to help resolve the crisis but the situation worsens as family secrets are revealed and promises are broken. When the vote to Leave is confirmed the family is well and truly at war.
After the events of 2016 I had to write this book in an effort to try to understand why the UK voted to leave the EU. Brexit Comes to Bedwell Ash takes a sideways look at the issues surrounding Brexit and why the UK voted the way it did. It uses examples and scenarios which interweave into the lives of the characters to explain the reasons for the choices they make.
I apologise in advance if this book offends anyone or goes against their stance on Brexit. It is a work of fiction and I did not write it to represent the pro-leave or the pro-remain cause. It is a satirical effort to explain away what happened and what might have happened if things had been handled ever so slightly differently.
I would further add that there is a section in this book which descends into chaos. I make no apologies for that whatsoever!
My hope is that my novel is entertaining and informative, although that is of course for the reader to decide.
